What is double glazing?
A double-glazed window includes two panes of glass separated by a gap of at least 12mm and held together within a sealed unit. The gap can either be filled with either air or argon gas. Although glass lets heaps of natural light in and allows you to look out onto the outdoors, glass is in fact a great heat conductor – without double glazing, the precious heat from your home would seep straight through! Double-glazing insulates against heat transfer by providing a break, stopping the air from circulating and consequently, slowing down the movement of heat and reducing heat loss.
